YOGA BIO
Xianix’s first job after graduating college in 2006 was as an office manager at a yoga studio in her neighborhood of Washington Heights. From there began her on again, off again relationship yoga. In 2018, Xianix suffered a foot injury that resulted in two tears, plantar fasciitis, arthritis and tendonitis in her left foot and leg. After attempting multiple methods of recovery, yoga was the most therapeutic form of healing with practices in both Bikram Yoga and Vinyasa Power Flow with Yarrow Bucans. In the fall of 2020, in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, Xianix embarked on the life-changing journey of a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training with Lila Flow to deepen her yoga and meditative practice and expand her knowledge as a dancer and teacher. The knowledge obtained in this yoga teacher training not only inform her yoga practice but also her personal dance creativity and flamenco teaching approach. As a yoga teacher, Xianix hopes to bring the yogic philosophy, anatomy, meditation, and pranayama (breath) education to the flamenco community and beyond of all ages, sizes. As a yogi practitioner and as a flamenca, Xianix’s supportive and encouraging spirit seeks to build confidence, passion and drive within her students by creating a safe space for all to express and tap into their true and authentic selves.
